Long An promotes friendship and investment-trade cooperation in China

At the invitation of the Liaoning Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (China), a delegation from Long An Province, led by Mr. Mai Van Nhieu – Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council – will pay an official visit to China from May 12 to 16, 2025. This is an important foreign affairs activity, affirming Long An’s long-term commitment to deepening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two localities.

The delegation also includes former provincial leaders, Standing Members of the People’s Council, senior officials from the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Finance, the Union of Friendship Organizations, and representatives of several Long An-based enterprises seeking partnership opportunities in sectors such as industrial infrastructure, logistics, urban development, golf course construction, auto parts manufacturing, and chemicals.

Since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 2015, Long An and Liaoning have maintained positive ties through regular exchanges, festive greetings, cultural interactions, and people-to-people events. The Vietnam–China Friendship Association of Long An has expanded with the establishment of multiple clubs, helping to strengthen mutual understanding, connecting communities, and fostering sustainable friendship.

During the visit, the delegation will hold working sessions with leaders of Liaoning Province, as well as Shenyang and Dalian cities; pay a courtesy call to the Vietnamese Embassy in China; and sign a cooperation agreement with the China–Vietnam Friendship Association of Liaoning. The delegation will also conduct investment promotion activities and engage directly with governmental agencies, organizations, business associations, and investors in Liaoning, Guangzhou, Shenyang, and Beijing.

A major highlight of the trip will be the Long An–Liaoning Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference, held in Dalian on May 15, 2025. This strategic forum aims to showcase Long An’s dynamic investment environment, transparent policies, and sustainable growth potential to the Chinese business community. The event will not only focus on attracting capital into Long An’s industrial parks and clusters but also aim to enhance trade connectivity, boost bilateral commercial cooperation, support supply chain development, expand market access, and promote exports—particularly in key sectors such as processed agricultural products, auto parts, and textiles and garments. It will also highlight Long An’s potential in eco-tourism, culture, and agriculture as contributing factors to future multi-sector cooperation.

To date, Long An has attracted around 1,540 FDI projects with total registered capital exceeding 14.4 billion USD. Among these, Chinese investors account for 704 projects with more than USD 3.1 billion in registered capital, ranking first in the number of projects and second in total capital among 40 countries and territories investing in the province.

This mission to China not only continues the tradition of friendly ties between the two localities but also represents a strategically significant diplomatic initiative. The Long An delegation hopes to open up new directions in attracting quality investment, strengthening production linkages, and expanding the bilateral trade cooperation network. Moreover, it seeks to promote the export of Long An’s key products to the Chinese market and enhance the province’s international competitiveness and integration in a new period of development./.
