Long An will invest in building 11 centralized domestic wastewater treatment stations to overcome the shortcomings and limitations of urban areas that have not had a treatment system for many periods.

Currently, in the province, domestic wastewater is generated at about 199,000 m³/day and night. Of which, urban areas are about 82,000 m³/day and night; most residential areas with infrastructure investors have built centralized wastewater treatment systems that meet standards before discharging into the environment.

Apart from Vinh Hung Town (Vinh Hung District) which has a centralized domestic wastewater treatment system, the remaining localities do not have a domestic wastewater collection and treatment system; wastewater generated from households is only preliminarily treated through the households' septic tanks and then discharged into receiving sources.

Some urban areas have not completed the construction of centralized wastewater treatment systems according to approved planning, specifically Go Den Residential Area (Ben Luc District), Phuoc Thanh Residential Area (Can Giuoc District), etc.

To deal with these shortcomings and limitations, the People's Committee of Long An province included wastewater treatment plants in the planning of Long An province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, and assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to prepare documents for project approval procedures and deploy the construction of urban wastewater treatment plants, requiring construction in 2025-2026 according to the planning, in order to completely overcome the environmental pollution situation.

Specifically, there will be 2 domestic wastewater treatment stations in Tan An city, 2 in Can Duoc district, 1 in Can Giuoc district, 2 in Ben Luc district, 3 in Duc Hoa district and 1 in Kien Tuong town.

The People's Committee of Long An province assigned departments, branches and localities to urge investors in residential areas to complete infrastructure according to approved planning. In case of non-compliance, the People's Committee of Long An province will advise on handling according to regulations./.
